Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), denoted by the formula (C10H8O4)n, is a widely used plastic resin synthesized through either ester exchange or esterification processes. It has a semi-crystalline structure and appears milky white or light yellow with a smooth, glossy surface. PET can be further categorized into APET, RPET, and PETG based on processing and properties.

PET boasts excellent physical and mechanical properties across a broad temperature range. It can function effectively up to 120°C and exhibits good electrical insulation even under high temperatures and frequencies. While corona and creep resistance are lower, PET offers superior performance in terms of denaturation resistance, fatigue resistance, friction resistance, and dimensional stability.
